For over 35 years, John and Liza have crafted high-quality products with a commitment to community and a lifelong romance with design.

​

Established in Suffolk, U.K. in 2008 and now located on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, John Edward Halpin Upholstery boasts a rich heritage, including projects like refurbishing Harrods Tea Rooms in London.

​

John's journey began at sixteen in a Suffolk workshop, customising furniture for people with disabilities. He later specialised in lounge suites before opening his own business at 29 in Bury St Edmunds, his team tackled diverse projects, including upholstered leather chairs for private jets and VIP suites at Crystal Palace stadium.

​

Liza, has over 25 years of experience in soft furnishings, attending Central St. Martins Art School in London and earned a Diploma in Professional Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings from the National Design Academy in the U.K.

 

In 2015, they founded the Tagsibol Foundation in the Philippines, offering upholstery training to survivors of violence.

John and Liza relocated to Sydney and establishing their practice on the Upper North Shore. John Edward Halpin Upholstery & Soft Furnishings offers services in upholstery restoration, custom furniture design, and personalised curtains and soft furnishings.
